From Parcel to Passport

That bubble mailer from your last delivery? Don't bin it. Bring it.

In 90 minutes, you'll transform your own packaging waste into a sleek, functional passport holder; sewn by you, built to last, made from something you almost threw away.

This is what circularity feels like in practice.

THE PROJECT

You'll construct a slim, structured passport holder from a bubble polymailer you bring along. The result is a durable, water-resistant travel accessory with the unique texture and character of your own packaging: one-of-a-kind by design.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE

No sewing experience needed, just curiosity and a few polymailers.

  • Sewing, demystified: A quick hands-on introduction to the computerised sewing machine before you put it straight to work
  • Rethinking packaging: See your polymailer differently: not as waste, but as raw material with its own character
  • Precision construction: Use our templates to cut, fold, and stitch a finished cardholder that looks considered and intentional
  • A small treat to end the session: because good things are worth savouring

WHAT TO BRING

4-5 bubble polymailer (A4 size or larger).
Please ensure they are clean, dry, and free of tape before arrival.
This is your canvas.

Every experience you book supports The Interchange's research and community outreach.

You're not just making a passport holder; you're building the loop.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Age Requirement
This upcycling experience is designed for adults. The session involves a heat press and computerised sewing machine, and we want everyone to engage with the equipment safely and confidently.

Cancellations & Refunds
Tickets are non-refundable. If you're unable to attend, you're welcome to transfer your spot to someone else; just notify us at least 48 hours before the session so we can update our records. Your $60 goes directly towards The Interchange's materials research and community programming, so every booking genuinely makes a difference.

Organiser Cancellation
If we need to cancel or reschedule for any reason, you'll receive a full refund or priority access to the next available date; your choice.

Late Arrivals
The session runs for exactly 60 minutes and each step builds on the last. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to accommodate you and the ticket will be forfeited.

Materials
Please bring 3–4 clean, dry, tape-free polymailers (A4 size). We'll have a small reserve on hand, but availability is not guaranteed for those who arrive without. The character of your cardholder depends on what you bring; the more interesting the mailer, the more interesting the outcome.

Photography & Media
We document our sessions for research and promotional purposes. By attending, you consent to being photographed or filmed. If you'd prefer not to be included, let us know on arrival and we'll respect that without question.

Equipment Use
You'll be working with a computerised sewing machine and heat press. Full guidance is provided before use. The Interchange is not liable for personal injury arising from improper use of equipment after instruction has been given.
