EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility)

A policy approach that makes producers financially or physically responsible for the end-of-life treatment of their products, shifting the cost of disposal away from the state and taxpayers. Singapore's first EPR scheme covered e-waste, introduced in 2021. The Beverage Container Return Scheme, launched 2026, is the second.
